About the role

The Category Analyst reports to the Category Manager and is accountable for ensuring our field sales team, and cross-functional, and external partners are equipped with timely, accurate, and robust updates on our business performance, drivers, and opportunities. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for the creation of selling tools to be leveraged by the field sales team with a particular focus on our rapidly growing Grocery and Natural Channel business. Key accountabilities will include monthly performance scorecards, preparing custom category selling materials across accounts for Category Reviews, ensuring accuracy and optimization of our data portals and resources, maintaining item setup tools, as well as supporting ongoing project work as we develop new category strategies and stories to advance our business in partnership with our valued retailer partners.

In This Role, You Will Focus On:

  • Reporting and Analytics: Grocery, Alt, and Natural Channels
    • Ensure on-time and accurate analysis is completed for the sales team and broader organization using syndicated and customer POS data (Spins, Numerator, Bedrock, Circana, NielsenIQ, 84.51)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact with our 3rd party partners, verifying the accuracy of data and reports we receive, as well as working to optimize and customize scorecards and portals as needed
    • Monitor monthly business scorecards. (Defining clear account penetration, sales, share, and trade goals)
    • Develop tools for the sales team including monthly reports to help measure the business and guide actionable recommendations
    • Have expert knowledge of category and competition and report out monthly
  • Distribution Planning and Accountabilities: Grocery, Alt, and Natural Channels
    • Support account teams by managing the Distribution Planning Lifecycle from annual planning, sell-in, and result tracking
  • Category Management: Grocery, Alt, and Natural Channels
    • Support our Regional Grocery, Natural Independents, and Alt Channels business
    • Support strategic selling initiatives and develop impactful insights that meet category and retailer-specific needs, all through the analysis of syndicated data
    • Employ category management tools to develop customized solutions for distribution space, assortment, and planogram recommendations
    • Create and present account-specific category reviews providing unbiased analysis, interpretation, and recommendations for improving category performance
    • Craft robust fact-based selling stories utilizing syndicated data, retailer-specific POS data, panel data, shopper-card data, and other research
    • Articulate category trends and understand the performance of all accounts
    • Provide monthly scorecards and business updates to drive accountability and engagement across our broker teams
  • Special Projects and Initiatives:
    • Support project work as requested by the Category Manager and Leadership Teams

 

In This Role, You’ll Bring With You: 

  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of professional category management experience in the food and or beverage industry
  • A minimum of 2 years of industry experience within Consumer Packaged Goods and or Fast Moving Consumer Goods
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of SPINS, IRI, Neilsen, Panel Data, and Loyalty card data
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Extremely strong analytical skills
  • Must be able to establish and maintain strong internal and external working relationships
  • Up to 10% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year. Anticipate possible travel up to a few times each year in addition to role-specific travel
  • Genuinely passionate about improving childhood nutrition for a healthier and happier planet

Compensation: 

  • Salaried, Full-Time Exempt
  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $110,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses, stipends, equity, and role-specific perks
