About the role

At Naturalmat we’ve been hand making organic beds & mattresses at our workshop on the banks of the river Exe since 1999. We buy all of our raw materials direct from source, we manufacture everything ourselves under one roof and we only sell direct to customer via our own showrooms and website. It’s this level of control that allows us to create the best possible product and experience for our customers. We’re fortunate to be growing fast, we’ve found a site for our next showroom and we’re building a new factory & office next to our current HQ in Topsham.

Sustainability has been at our core since day one. We’ve always used natural, organic materials from renewable sources, we pioneered sustainable packaging and installed solar panels on the roof of our workshop. In 2020 we received a Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development and this year we became the first B Corp certified bed & mattress company in the UK.


About the role

We divide our retail business into two categories – Bedroom (for adults) & Nursery (for babies). This role will focus solely on the Bedroom side and will manage our email marketing, social media channels, influencer marketing & content creation. We’re looking for someone with fresh, exciting & creative ideas to really drive these channels forward and position us as the go-to sustainable bed & mattress brand.

We’re a small team that gets a lot done, and we’re looking for someone who will really take the initiative and see things through. You’ll be working with other teams within the business so it’s important you can form strong relationships, communicate clearly and follow through on commitments. You’ll work closely with and report to the Head of Marketing, Harry, and there will be plenty of opportunity to develop your skills & experience as the business grows.



We’re a small marketing team where everyone has to do a bit of everything, but the core areas of this role are:

  • Email Marketing We’ve really upped our email game since moving to Shopify & Klaviyo last year, or so we think. We’ll want you to come in and review the campaigns & flows we’ve created and suggest how these could be improved. On a monthly basis you’ll create engaging one-off campaigns for our database and suggest new flows we could test for specific segments, whilst drilling down into the data to discover what’s working and what’s not.
  • Social Media – Instagram is where we’ve focused our efforts to date and we’ve worked hard to build a following of 26,000. We’ve got great photography and unique, interesting stories to tell, so there’s really no excuse. We know we could be doing better so you’ll bring new ideas and really make this channel your own.
  • Influencers – Working with influencers is one of our key customer acquisition channels. Done right, it can be an engaging, visual & genuine way of spreading the word about Naturalmat and we work hard to identify true brand ambassadors that really ‘get us’. This is all about relationships and it’ll be your job to find new influencers for us to work with and start building those relationships.
  • Copywriting & Content Creation – For all of the above to happen you’ll need to create and manage our content calendar. We brainstorm broad monthly themes as a team and then it’ll be your job to flesh out what stories we tell, and how, to our audience across our channels. You’ll then create this content, whether that’s writing blog posts, creating new website landing pages or drafting copy for Instagram ads.


About you

  • You have at least 3 years experience in a similar marketing role.
  • Experience of working in a retail business would be ideal, but isn’t crucial.
  • You’re a confident copywriter, able to get ideas clearly & concisely onto the page
  • You’ve run social media accounts before and can show off the results you produced
  • An interest in interiors, furniture & sustainability is key
  • You’re ambitious, self-motivated & keen to learn
  • You enjoy working with others to get stuff done
  • You’re hardworking & reliable – if you say you’re going to do something, you do it
  • Experience working with Shopify & Klaviyo is a plus

  • Salary £26,000 – £32,000 dependent on experience
