Impact Workers

Senior Frontend Engineer – React

About the role

The goal is simple, to make healthy eating easy. To do this we need your support, building a scalable and maintainable mobile app that propels one of the UK’s most loved start-ups forward. As a proud B-Corp we focus on using business as a force for good. We do this by balancing out people and planet with profit. For every recipe box bought we donate the equivalent of a school meal to a less developed country (over 17 million meals donated and counting…) and we have also pledged to go Net Zero by 2030 but there are so many other initiatives that we would love to tell you about!

If you would like to join the UK’s most loved start-ups and make a positive impact on people’s lives, then we would love to speak with you.

We’re looking for an ambitious and passionate Senior Frontend Engineer to join our diverse and talented team. At Mindful Chef, we’re on a mission to build a platform to offer our customers the best possible experience while also following best practices in software development, and that’s where you come in.

You’ll be expected to work in collaboration with not only our superstar engineers, but also with other members of all departments to help us create and deliver a plan that will take us there.

If you would like to join one of the UK’s most loved startups and make a positive impact on people’s lives, we would love to hear from you.

  • Experienced with modern web development technologies (we use React/Next.js mainly).
  • Fluent with JavaScript or Typescript and familiar with web development best practices and tools.
  • Someone with a passion for engineering and solving problems.

  • Someone with a decent understanding of testing strategies. We love ourselves some good old TDD!
  • Familiar with Redux & React Query.
  • Open to take on responsibilities beyond just coding.

  • Able to pair and mob with other engineers in both planning and developing stages.
  • Happy to help and collaborate with other engineers. We fail and learn together.
  • Capable of working in an AGILE environment (we currently follow SCRUM, 2 weeks iterations/sprints)

  • Join a team of fantastic professionals who care enormously about what they do and about each other.
  • Work closely with our product and design team to plan and deliver on our product strategy.
  • Be encouraged to bring your own self to work and speak openly and freely

We are MINDFUL. This is intrinsic to everything we do. From the healthy recipes we design, to the local, expert and caring suppliers we select and the way we treat each other, our customers and our environment.

We are PERSONAL. We started Mindful Chef with our friends and families as customers and those are the kind of relationships we want to maintain however big we grow. Being real and true to ourselves and each other.

We are UNAFRAID. We want to be the best – to challenge conventions, to think differently and be imaginative in how we solve problems. Brave enough to take on the big players and to do what’s right even when it’s difficult.

Equal Opportunities
At Mindful Chef, we embrace diversity and inclusion as a foundation that enriches our culture and fuels the success of our business. We are mindful of everyone’s differences and we take pride in the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents that each individual brings to our team.

We are unafraid to tackle biases and challenge stereotypes, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their personal strengths. Our commitment to diversity is not just a policy; it’s a personal and collective responsibility that we take to heart.

We believe that by being mindful of our differences, unafraid to confront barriers, and embracing the personal stories and journeys of our team members, we can achieve greater innovation, creativity, and harmony in the workplace. Together we celebrate diversity, and together, we are better.
